I would check for corroded/damaged wiring, especially to the fuel pump. Also the ECU is in the passenger compartment and they live through crashes so although you cannot rule that out I would say it is likely not he culprit.

I am pretty sure I posted this before but if you are looking to squeeze every little bit of power out of your car then get a plastic/pvc/ect.. RAM air intake. Over 35mph a RAI will outperform a CAI. Any way you slice it though you are gaining very little power with one.
