Straight Pipes Vs. Full After Market Exhaust

Its the vacuum created behind the gases that pull the gas out of the exhaust ports that helps to make power. Back pressure is different in that it is a measure of restriction in the system only. If you had zero restriction i.e. open headers and could keep your exhaust velocity high then that...

Straight Pipes Vs. Full After Market Exhaust

I heard from a buddy of mine it had something to do with the carb motors and tuning. But after a little research I guess he was wrong and I look like a jackass. :( BACK PRESSURE= BAD in every situation.

Best cold air intake and filter?

Not likely. Your air inlet is extremely small and that "flex" tubing disturbs the airflow way to much, plus under a decent vacuum it would most likely collapse. In a perfect setup you would have a frictionless material that has a perfectly straight shot into the throttle body. PVC RAI's are...

Straight Pipes Vs. Full After Market Exhaust

You needed back pressure on the old carb motors but not on the fuel injected cars. The more material that is there the more power you lose.

    4.6 into a Fox

Yeah like Cledus said. Edelbrock makes a intake for to throw a carb on it. It is pretty cheap too.

car stalls when headlights/AC turned on, not batt/alt for sure

I would check for corroded/damaged wiring, especially to the fuel pump. Also the ECU is in the passenger compartment and they live through crashes so although you cannot rule that out I would say it is likely not he culprit.

    Miles for gear break in?

I guess the "500 mile take it easy so your rings seat on the pistons" is make believe too right? :D

    Inspection Q?

Even if your downstream O2s are tuned out you should still be showing a ready signal. Something was up with your tune then. I have no cats, and a tune from Blow By Racing and I pass the OBDII diagnostic test with flying colors. All the tune should be doing is tricking the car into thinking...

    cobra 10th anni brakes

Yes. It fits but you will need to get the bracket. It is mentioned in the add. ;)

    WTB: Passenger's fender 99-04 Mustang

Hello, If anyone has a passenger side fender for a 99+ car preferably in Mineral Gray I would be greatly appreciative. If it is another color I can work with that too. Just let me know by PM as I might forget about this thread. Thanks, Chris

i need cataylitic converters that will pass emissions test..help plz

I am unsure if the rules in NYC are different than the rest of the state but if not then you do not need emissions equipment. If you have an SCT/Predator/Tweecer, ect. you can have them tuned out. If not then you can purchase a set of MIL eliminators. What they do is simulate the different...

    ok got 2 problems

If you want a strut for a lowered car you actually should go shorter. Your cheapest bet is to get a set of Fox struts. You can get after markets but get them for the Fox body rather than the 99+ cars. Now the caster camber plates are mainly for the camber as the stock adjustments sometimes...

    Cross Drilled Slotted Rotors

You should easily be able to fit a 13" brake up front and the rears are all the same unless you go after market like Wilwood or Brembo. If you do not want them to rust look for ones that have zinc in them. If you do want to go bigger though you should look into the Cobra upgrade as it is only...

Best cold air intake and filter?

If you are hell bent on a after market intake go with a RAI. The short ram-air setups make more horsepower, period! Although, either a CAI or RAI are fairly weak on the HP gains for the 99-04 Mustangs. It comes down to a few hp that your not going to feel. If you do then your getting a...

    tire differences

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Here you go. I use this if I really need a visual. You may have to install a later version of flash to view it but it is safe. It will show you a comparison and if there will be any difference in rotational speed.

    Gear install kit

Do it. You will wonder why the hell you skimped out on bearings when you have to replace the whole rear end.

    pinion depth?

Now I have never tackled a set of gears on my own but if you are using the Ford gears you should be able to use the MHD as that is what it is built for. Although I have seen it at 4.415.

Best cold air intake and filter?

The only part that I have needed to source out would be a MAF adapter. They do not sell anything that would work. I have tried HD, and Lowes.

    5.4 swap into 2000 GT

That would be true if he was putting a SOHC 5.4 under his hood. He is asking about a a DOHC. You will have to use a Cobra or Mach 1 intake and the wiring is going to be a nightmare but it has been done a few times. I'll see if I can find the thread over on Modular Revolution that spoke of...

Best cold air intake and filter?

I am pretty sure I posted this before but if you are looking to squeeze every little bit of power out of your car then get a plastic/pvc/ect.. RAM air intake. Over 35mph a RAI will outperform a CAI. Any way you slice it though you are gaining very little power with one.
