If you're looking to step up the handling, I recommend going with Maximum Motorsports:

^^That setup will be a good platform to start with...and you can add a panhard bar/torque arm setup with their front K-member and coilovers in the future if you want all out handling. I ran that MM starter box setup with Bilstein shocks/H&R race springs for a few years and loved it on the street. The H&R springs help get rid body roll with a 1.25" drop and the subframe connectors will stiffen up your chassis... You will be able to take the exit ramps with more confidence. For the drag strip, the springs will be too stiff for good weight transfer...it's a give and take. The MM TA/PHB will keep the rear end planted even more if you want to go that far. Helps prevent the rear end from kicking out if you get too aggressive in a turn...
This is what I had on my 2000 before I went with the full torque arm/panhard bar setup from Maximum Motorsports:
Bassani X pipe with the MM subframe connectors. Loved the Bassani quality and sound when I had it...but ditched for an ARH X pipe to match the LT's.
