Cars Lost in time

In the summer time i go to New Paltz on weekends to get away from the concrete jungle. I went with a few friends for a long hike in the woods, about 2 hours into it, in the MIDDLE OF NO WHERE we find all these abandoned cars and tractors, moost of them from the 50's / 60's, the strange part is that there is no homes for miles in either direction, not sure how the got there. I know that 100 years ago they used to mine and mill stone from the area but these cars are from 60 years ago adn they looke like they have been ther for LONG TIME, the area is also used for hunting in the winter time but that still doesnt explain how they got there.

Anyway, thought it was kool and i would post some pix, enjoy.

Check out the corporate logo on the door of the Old Ford Truck, does anyone recognize it?

Check how the trees grew around that tractor.

Nice Find!! Looks cool. I love seeing stuff like that in the wilderness.. How far away is a road? Is there a trail big enough to drive up in there? Thats some cool stuff!!!

There are trails big enough to drive a car through but not that deep into the woods, there were prolly trails going all the way over ther but they are overgrown by woods now. The nearest home/Road has got be an easy mile are 2 away.

Some neat stuff there, especially the bulldozer. Where are the trails you hike when you spotted these? I've got a few friends in that area who may know something.

Yeah, those cars we found were rusted through and had plenty of bullet holes, they were nests for Wasps and mosquitos and who ever else was willing to set up shop.

The nearest roads to the find were "Rockhill Road" in ulster county, also not far from "44/55"

Never seen that logo but it would be kool to know what it was.

That car barns site was kool!! WOulndt consider it a hijack since its ON topic

a lot of times way back when, people would just dump stuff where it was convenient. was this private property or state/local govt land?

I have some customers in the scrap, or as they like to say these days, RECYCLING, business. Metal prices are WAY down and they aren't likely to pull these out of the woods unless it was for free. Except for the bulldozer there's not enough metal there to make it worth the time and effort.
