If you have an 86 and there are some miles on the car, you need to change the IAT. Intake Air Temp Sensor. When they go bad the car will run like ass at part throttle and idle. They are pretty cheap too. Around $15 at Autozone, Strauss, Advance etc. The sensor sits in the #5 intake runner on the lower manifold. Screw out the old and screw in the new. That damn sensor went bad on my LSC, Mustang and my Bronco. As stated above you need to set the TPS correctly as well. Good luck.
