OK I had another wonderful weather day today (Bruce this is for you) 54 degrees today so I pulled the r/s door out of the garage & used the Master Series silver rust preventer paint on the inside of the door shell. Here is what it looks like now. Now all I need is the door skin.
Next update I rolled the Coupe out of the garage a couple days ago & cut the upper flange off the new quarter panel skin & screwed & clamped it to the flange I left on the old quarter panel. I will need to tweak it a little but for the most part I am happy with the fit & finish of the re-pop skin. Now it is off to the welding supply company for my welding gas so I can get the new quarter skin welded in.
Well it has been a while since I posted any updates, but today I ordered the r/s door skin from CJ's and took advantage of their 20% off sale. I will post pics as soon as I recieve the door skin.
While I am waiting for the door skin to arrive I removed both door hinges to check them. The upper is not that bad, but the lower one is way loose. I ordered a door hinge rebuild kit today.
Hey Bruce & anyone else that is interested I pulled apart the r/s door upper & lower door hinges today. The pin holes in the hinges look good but the bushings are toast. Now I just have to wait for the rebuild kit to arrive.
Update on the r/s door, I finally got the new door skin & it was nice weather today so I installed the new door skin & got the upper door hinge rebuilt today. I have to do some work on the lower hinge as the holes are out of round
Thanks Bruce, the door skin I originally ordered was made by Dnyacorn & was o backorder until end of June so I had CJ's cancel that order & send me the one they had in stock. I think it came out great.
I got a chance today on my day off to hang the r/s door with the new door skin. It looks good & lines up well, I just have a little work to do to the l/s lower corner. I LOVE new sheet metal.
Today I spent a couple hours cutting a rotted piece out of the l/s door jamb area down by the rocker panel & making the patch piece. I have to do some final trimming & fitting before I weld it in. Sorry no pics this time, during the week when I get it out in the sun again I will snap a pic & post it.
Yesterday I ordered the sheet metal for the r/s, the r/s quarter panel skin, r/s inner & outer wheel houses. The quarter skin was even on sale, I saved $18.00.
