That sounds more like a bearing issue, which usually is most audible at 1500-2000 rpms.

To the OP, EHA Racing can tell you what is needed to convert to carbed if that's the route you want to take. Carb technology has come along way, and more people are going with blow thru forced induction setups than before as well. Everyone has there preference, just like with cars in general.
