It all depends on what you want to do w/ the car. Do you plan on doing headers or do you have headers? What about a cat back?

You can pick up a Pypes catted x-pipe for shorty headers from AmericanMuscle.com for around $330 and a SLP for around $400 there, or you can probably find one used in good condition on various classifies / ebay. The x-pipes for long tubes are a little bit cheaper, and I would deifnitely recommend long tubes over shorties if you can find somebody to install them for a resonable price...maybe somebody here could do it for you.

I got my magnaflow catted xpipe on ebay. My buddy got his bassani catted xpipe on ebay also. I have not had to have my rear O2's turned off but he did. There are a ton of manufacturers out there, just depends on what you want.

I already have a stainless steel Bassani Catback. Someone had suggested X-Pipes to me but obviously if you get rid of the cats you won't pass inspection. But yeah I plan on getting my hands on a catted X and doing headers, too. I get a good deal of stuff from American Muscle.

And on the headers - I don't really know the difference between long and short (I really don't even know that much about cars at all), but my boyfriend suggested long-tubes, and I just figured I'd go with that. I mean he has a '69 Camaro that's all worked up, so I figured he knows something about it ^_^

if u get longtube headers ur gonna have to have a shorty mid pipe, they good for power and sound gettin mine installed on fri but i need someone to help me pass inspection cuz i got an o/r mid pipe

Well if I do the X-Pipe I gotta get a catted one, and I definitely want to get a Bassani to match my Catback. Now if I do an X-Pipe and then want to do headers, what's the deal with the shorty mid-pipe you just mentioned? I still don't know everything about it so I gotta ask!

IMO the long tubes are too much hassle for the extra 3-4 HP they produce on a N/A car. If you had Forced Induction they would definitely be worth it. Go with the shortys and an x pipe with high flow cats. then you have no worrys about a pipe sniffer and you will have a much better sounding exhaust.

Sound is definitely what I'm interested in. I have a Bassani catback and it sounds pretty good, but now I'm used to it and it's not loud enough for me anymore
