im not jen lol but i can help, the emails you speak of are notifications sent you from the web site that tell you a thread or topic you have posted in has more postings from other users since you posted in it.

its your profiles default setting that the notifications be sent to the email address you provided during the account set up process. private messages will pop up notifications when you log into the site as well as send you email notifications that you have a private message.
