It could be the fuel pump or possibly the fuel pressure regulator. If you could check what you are getting fuel pressure at idle it might help point you in the right direction. I had the same sort of problem with my truck, 2.3t swap, been fixing problems on it ever since I bought the thing, lol. Anyhow, sometimes it would drive fine and then it would act like its missing and when it idled at times it sounded like it had a big cam. Checked the fuel pressure and it was fine, and changed the regulator and it drives so much better now. You could check the codes on it before replacing anything though and see what you get.
You can check out 50resto.com for fuel pumps, they have quite a few different ones. Most of the fuel pumps run around the same price from the smaller ones to the big ones. I bought a 255 lph pump because I have some big plans for it and don't want to buy a fuel pump twice.
