Wheel Fitment Issues

I just received my new wheels from American Muscle (17x8 front and 17x9 rear 4 lug). Before I ordered tires I wanted to bolt the wheels up to 1) make sure they fit, and 2) determine what size tires I can go with. When I mounted the 17x9s in the rear, they look like they're gonna fit well. When I tried the front, the wheel was kicked out about 1" to 1 1/4" past the fenderwell.

I was told by someone that it's because the car was jacked up and this is common with Mustang suspensions, and once the car is lowered they will fit properly. I would imagine that once the spring was loaded that it would bring them back in a bit, but 1" to 1 1/4"??? It sounds like a lot.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Does this sound right about them fitting w/ tires once it's on the ground? I really like these wheels and hope they'll fit, but I don't want to order tires, mount them just to find out they still don't fit w/in the wheel well, and have problems returning the wheels and/or tires.

It does seems like a lot to me. Did you measure the wheel? Probably they sent you 17x9 all around by mistake.
You can jack up the control arm to bring it close to ride height to see if it gets better.

I didn't measure, but it's obvious enough that the 17x9 has a deeper dish then the 17x8. They said they're sure that they're gonna fit and that I should buy the tires, mount them and that if it is the exception and doesn't fit, they'll give me the refund even though the tires were mounted. This sucks.....I just want them to fit.

I would say if they don't look like they fit then return them.

I can't see them getting retracted back in 1-1 1/4".....just don't see it. I'd like them to work but I think I'm gonna have to go for choice #2.
