What would it take to beat a..

Talon TSi? I know I'll get killed from a dig, but it's 6 bolt swap with a full inter cooler and HKS BOV. All I'll(providing I can pick up the other engine) is a 302 with E7 heads, fresh rebuild Edlebrock Performer 289 intake, and a Holley 600 4bbl. What would it take to make me run with him?

power is about the same, and weight is almost the same, where you have an advantage is torque. If you can get out of the hole close to him you should be able to catch up and at least keep even or go ahead of him (his AWD becomes a disadvantage on the top end) In conclusion, it would be a drivers race.

Some gears definately will make a huge difference and some tires tha would help u hook top end u should be alright especially if he can't drive. . .if he wins race him out of a roll lol. . .good luck keep us posted on what happens

Question, kinda off topic, but why did you go with the 289 intake instead of the 302 performer intake? Does the 289 flow better? That's actually what I had on my old 65 coupe

Its gonna take more than a used 302 with shit stock heads to beat a modded turbo DSM.
Some of those are really quick and run anywhere from 12's on down to 9's from what Ive seen at the track.

Youre looking at being a 14 second car with the parts youre looking at without spraying the shit out of it. My car ran 15's with a stock motor, stock gears, shorty headers and an Edelbrock Performer intake and even with AFR 165's, a custom ground cam, 4.10's and some other bolt ons it only ran 13.7.

I havent ran it with the new motor yet so I dont know where its at but now its far from stock.

His car pulls pretty good..it's actually my brothers. My other brother has a Talon too that's about 400 hp that that hauls some ass. Add to the fact that my motor is a non roller with shitty smogged up heads from 1980 I think it's going to take some work...

LOL!!! If its a 6 bolt swap, that means its a 2g? If awd is launched hard and not bogged down, then yeah he'll beat you. You'll probably need gears and tires like everyone else has said. I drove a 1g before with a few mods, it impressed me...

Came on the motor...From what I have read the 289 is good from idle to 5500 while the 302 is good for about 1500 to 6500....
