87 works fine with the 6's. The other octane doesn't do anything to the stang. Just wasting more money on gas. Also heard that 93 burns faster?not sure if that's true ?

I used 89 since I got a BAMA 89 octane Performance tune, but stock wise, the v6 is meant for regular, the V8 will see a bump in power from going to 93 when stock. as for 93 burning fast yes, but also it burns cleaner and hotter making a better combustion, with new cars the sensors can see this and decrease fuel consumption.

Stick with 87, it's recommended by Ford for a reason.(you're not tuned for higher octane, so you're just wasting your money)

As inside your engine since 93% of the gas you put into it is Octane, the combustion catalyst in gasoline. High octane, burns off more gas and leaves less excess residue.

The thing about the 11+ Mustangs is that they have sensors in the motors that will be able to detect the differences in Octane and adjust the timing to optimally tune the engine for that octane.

Unless you have a tune for 89 or 93 there is no real benefit to using it. My car is tuned to use 91+ octane so I have to use it in my car

Well, 5-7whp = 8-10hp at the crank. And whether someone can feel that or not is besides the point. +10hp is +10hp.

Don't people put on exhaust systems/cold air intakes/etc. that only give +10hp, but costs them hundreds of $$? Sure they do. And I can get that +10hp by simply putting in 93 octane while making NO physical changes to the car whatsoever. Seems like a no brainer to me ...

Yup!

But basically, I don't want to physically alter my car. So I tried a Hypertech tune (see sig) and using the Premium Fuel tune it dropped my drag time a solid 1/4 sec.

And that's without changing the rpm limit, shift limit, or shift firmness!

A physical change to my wallet is not a physical change to my car, so it has no bearing on my original comment.

Regardless, your math is way off.

I drive ~10,000 miles a year. At a combined city/highway of 24mpg, I'm using 417 gallons/year.

If premium fuel is 25 cents/gallon more, then .25 x 417 = an extra $104/year. That's an extra 28 cents/day for premium fuel. So if I keep my car for say 5 years, using premium fuel would cost me an extra $520.

Not quite as "insane" as you make it out to be, is it. For me to spend "thousands" more, I'd have to keep the car for 15-20 years.

93 octane is just more refined.......so it burns better...I wouldnt waste my money on 93 w/o A tune/cold air...Gee i thought people buy a 6cyl for economy?????
