On my 88 gt when I hit a pot hole even in town at low rpm my car seems to almost cut out or lose power. Could it be the battery or the transmission or the inertia switch

Your inertia switch would shut down your fuel pump completely untill it is reset. Your car wouldn't even run. You have a loose ground some where...
