I got a PA comp C-4 in my car. It was my friend's he had it in his car for only one season and it was great and held up to plenty of street use too.c-4 is a heck of a lot lighter than an AOD also so you will pick up some time there too!!

Yeah it was fun bench pressing the AODE out of the car lol. Ive heard that the C4 is a good 70lbs lighter than the original trans!

Make sure you get a really good tranny cooler with an electric fan on it if at all possible, especially if your going to be running a loose converter and street driving.

If you go for the C4 , look for a "PAN FILL" case which has the bell housing bolt to the case and not the pump bolts like "Case Fill" C4. The pan fill was used in fords heavy duty applications. I have a pan fill bell housing and flex plate for sale if anyone needs them.....

You just changed your mind from an automatic to a manual setup? :confused:

Whatever you want to do man... it wouldnt be that hard I wouldnt think, hit up a junkyard for all the swap parts you need.

I know its not hard, i can do the work easily, im just really up in the air as to what to do, and what ill need to do it. The toss up between C4 and TKO600 varies by the hour it seems lol.

My C-4 uses a C-5 case with the fine band adjustment threads. A c-4 will swap right in with some modification to the trans mount and a steeda spacer for the drive shaft. Most aftermarket shifters have a micro switch for the reverse lock-out and neutral safety switch.

lol, now thats a different story.

I feel the same way about broken cars, as you feel about crossbred.

Fast Mustangs usually have Chevy transmissions in them for the same reason that the fast chevys use Ford rears.

Does anyone know what exactly needs to be done to swap a C4 in? Ive thought it over alot and this is the route im going to go. I called Art Carr and they have a setup for $2195. Do i need a different crossmember/mounts, and is the driveshaft length the same? Thanks ahead of time!

Oh, and stupid question, but what is the difference between a 10", 9", and 8" converter if they are stalled the same?

Yeah i have, but i like the fact that the C4 is lighter, the car is more of a strip car that gets driven on weekends. I have the AODE out of my car now, and was contemplating having a local shop rebuild it with good internals, but im not sure what id need, and where the weak points are in the trans. I dont want to be pulling the stock trans every 6-12 months for a rebuild lol

I got a smokin deal on a AODE heavt duty worked transmission with a 1700-1900 stal-speed converter from monster transmission. Total price was $1404.95. Great people to deal with. MONSTER TRANSMISSIONS & PERFORMANCE. 800-708-0087, located in Florida. I just ordered it today seeing as mine crapped out. Only downfall is it will be 3 weeks before I receive it due to the shop being real busy with high tranny demands. Just figured I would reply with this in case anybody wanted to check them out. The pricing is great because they like a lot of volume thats why the prices are low.:headbang:

What you will need.
  1. C-4 bellhousing to fit flexplate tooth count.
  2. Recommend a 157 tooth flexplate (one from an AOD will work)
  3. C4 trans mount (if you have solid motor mounts you need a solid trans mount and vice a versa)
  4. C4 dipstick (recommend lokar flexible)
  5. Starter from and AOD will work.
  6. Call Lenny at Ultimate Convertors for a convertor. You will not go wrong.
  7. C4 shifter and cable.
  8. I recommend the Steeda drive shaft spacer to make a stock lenght driveshaft work well.
  9. You can buy a c4 specific trans crossmember but i welded an extension plate to the front of mine and it worked fine.
  10. Everything else is gravy!

Wow...that is cheap! I have an ArtCarr 4K converter that would be going back in it if I did that option.

Oh btw, the guy at ArtCarr told me to buy a 164T trans, as the trans is longer so i dont have to shorten my d/s, but he didnt sound like he knew what he was talking about lol. Any truth to that??

Oh, and should i be looking at a case fill or trans fill in your opinion?
