all they require is a helmet as far as safety??
YOu need a SNELL rated helmet, Irish brought his Motorcycle helmet and they let him run but i think it was SNELL. They usually rent them for 5 or 10 bucks but last race they ran out so i had to share a helmet with another d00d, luckliy he had a head sock.
YOu have to have a valid drivers lic and you car has to pass tech inspection, they toqrue down your wheels (bring a bit cause they dont always have the right one), check all your tires and hoses, make sure nothing is falling apart. you ARE allowed to run R Comp tires!
YOu also have to empty your car completely, carpets, storage, everything except the spare tire.
Its usually about $40 bux to run for the day, you get 8 heats (laps) but somtimes it comes out to be less or more depending on how many cars show. The have timing equipment and they post your numbers at half day and end of day, plaques go to the top 3 in each class.
You are also required to do track work, theres people on the track who will pick up knocked over cones, wave the hazard flag and operate walkie talkies. It keeps it fair any knocked over cone will get noticed. You do track duty twice in a day, about an hour each. You also get a different perspective on the coarse as you watch 15 - 20 cars take turns doing laps, you get to see how the cars react and what angles are working best, this helps get familiar with the coarse as it changes every event. You are allowed to walk the coarse several times before racing starts.
You gotta be there by 8am to register and have you car tech inspected, they start running about 10am and its usually done by 2 or 3pm. Its a long day but its awesome, tons of kool cars and some kool people you get to know after coming to a few events. People are always willing to help you out by giving you pointers from watching you run and sharing tools and supplies.
Our times were in the low 60 sec's, if your good youll crack into the 50's, there was even a few guys that ran 48's (Porsche GT2 and an old British race car with a Ford/Cosworth DOHC N\4 banger)
