Yeah that doesn't sound very good. I am kind of suprised that 2 quarts low would lead to low or no oil pressure. It sounds more like a knock than a tick.
That's the thing early in the day that day I went for a car wash and get gas it was perfect oil level was fine and dash gauge was fine. I parked it for about 3-4 hours came back later that night before the storm and went to position the car at a better spot. When I turned the car on the dash gauge was on L for the oil. I turned it off and back on thinking the gauge got stuck or didn't register like my gas gauge when I get gas it takes a while to register the gas. The gauge didn't adjust so I got worried I popped the hood and checked the oil dip stick. Don't know if the car not being warmed the oil really didn't reach the dip stick so I let the car warm up. Yet the dip stick was bone dry. I then went to get two quarts of 5-30 oil and poured one then checked was reaching the dip stick but still under the indicator I poured the remaining bottle and the indicator was perfect. However, the noise was now apparent but has it's fluctuation in sound level when low on oil it was loud when filled with oil it's low almost none existent but noticeable since I know my car and the sounds it makes.
It's about 10 degrees out right now and dark. I will make another idle video tomorrow with daylight and hood open. I will record idle which is normal and quite and then rev the engine up about 2000k so the knock can be heard.
Yes and I'm very appreciative of that I'm in the process of searching for a kit and I found a trick flow kit which is pretty pricey but I haven't found any other kits so I wouldn't know how to base the kit values so $329 sounds like my baseline since it's the only one I have found thus far. Would you care to elaborate on the kit you purchased and from what distributor you obtained it from.

Yea my kit was a new engine
i didnt replace the chain cause like you, i was unsure of what it was so i kept driving it and it eventually spun a bearing and lost oil pressure... and that was that
Nope noise stays and is very loud with increasing rpm's. Drove the car slow to my mechanic and it was diagnosed with a spun rod bearing. So we are shopping for a low mileage swap in. I was quoted $1500 full swap. So I just need to find a low mileage 4.6 2V to purchase and have them install it.
Would anyone know the difference a PI head engine to a regular 4.6 2V mustang engine?
damn that sucks, i had the same thing. my engine cost me 1500 for a new 4.6 PI. The pi is created more hp then a non pi. the bottom ends are the same though. just the heads are different

this makes me want to remove my oil pan and check the screen for debris... The low oil light turns on when oil is less then 6 psi. THe stock gauge is a on-off switch basically...
Good luck OP, i hope there isn' any (or much) damage...

yeah, when i did my cams the car had 90k on it and the plastic was almost gone off the curved guides! def something that needs to be addressed if you have a moderate to high mile 4.6
