How is converting an EFI car to a Carb so expensive?
First off, all that ignition crap is unnecesary. Yes, I said that.
I guess I'll start off with the ignition crap...
You dont actually need an 'ignition box' I found that out after I bought my freakin $230 MSD crap box. If you can buy a distributor with an ignition module on it, than thats all you need. Heres a link to the style distributor I am using.

All that you need is that and a coil. Run the power on the distributor off the coil and wa la. All the MSD box will do is supposedly give you 'multiple sparks'
under like 2,000 rpm's. Supposedly it gives you better gas mileage....whatever. And they have a 'rev limiter' that doesnt work half the time anyway. That last part I have seen on several other peoples cars. A 7,000 chip that comes on at 6,000 and a 6,000 chip that didnt work, causing a new hole in the oil pan.
For a carb, that all depends on what your doing. Choose what works best for you.
For an intake... an Edelbrock rpm airgap is hard to beat on anything but a 8,000rpm motor.
And you need a fuel pressure regulator. I dont know for sure, but I would imagine the stock pump can be used with a regulator in place. Jegs 4.5-9psi regulator is $27. Cant beat it.
I dont get whats so expensive. You could pick up a used intake for like $100. $75 for the distributor. $27 for a regulator.
And whatever carb you get will vastly change the price.
Doesnt sound to bad from where I'm standing.
