TB and plenum

Can anyone tell if there is a real big difference in the performance of the different makes of the TB and plenums out there I notice some like accufab are alot more money. Are the other ones just as good? And witch one would be the best my car is a 2002 gt with just a cai on it. For now...

I cant really say which would be best...but I do have a accufab 70mm throttle body and pleneum and it makes a good difference in throttle response!

some are better than others and some are no better than stock. i like accufab, it usually makes the most hp in dyno tests. another good one is bbk part#1780. its a one piece tb and plenum and is 78mm, people seem to be having good results with those. also, you can never go wrong with a trick flow piece.

a neat trick i learned is that an upper plenum from an 01 and up crown victoria is a 1/2" taller than the mustang plenum. on a crown vic the tb points toward the driver side, on the mustang you just install it the other way. its kinda of like the budget plenum upgrade.

+ 1. I also prefer Accufab and have had good results with a 75MM Plenum and 75MM Throttle Body. Another good brand to look at is C&L.

stock and nearly stock applications you will not notice much as far as power gains, your engine running at 6000rpm only needs 488cfm to run at 100% volumetric efficiency (which it wont, you make the highest VE at your peak torque which is generally around 90%). Most the time people report throttle response which makes complete since. You will require less throttle to move more air, however, there will be a point in which turning the throttle more doesn't move more air. Basically you lose the speed of the air with a larger throttle body and thus its stored energy or inertia. So all in all any aftermarket plenum and a 70mm is all you'll ever need in a N/A engine thats not revving over 6500

I say do exhaust first, good rule of thumb I say is you need to get the exhaust out before you can get more in.

Thanks for the help I think Im going to do the exhaust and Tb plenum with a pro tune all at the same time. Maybee MRT with cats and Mrt catbacks, is accufab the way to go for the TB plenum setup..

IMO accufab makes a very good product quality wise. As for flow numbers, you can see (link above) that any plenum will be fine. As for TB, some people have issues with floating rpms with cheaper TBs.
