Streetable suspension ???

i have an 89 hatchback, just ordered the full front end kit from aje, k member, a-arms, cc plates manual rack etc etc....they recommended wolfe race craft for rear suspension, i talked to a guy at wolf and he didnt recommend it at all for street use and recommended something with urethane bushings, now im looking at METCO upper and lower control arms (also recommended by aje) and possibly hotckis sway bars???? im going to be running strange struts in the front because they fit right into the coil over kit, and should run the matching strange shocks in the back, but how bout rear coil springs??? car wil be street driven but want to hook well on the track...someone please bounce some ideas around with me the problem with wolfe's rear setup is the sway bar is a solid mount which allows no body roll which would be terrible for normal street driving, the metco allows for a stock swaybar which sounds like its more street/strip...

run stock springs in the rear. a sway bar and an anti roll bar are 2 different things, the wolfe is an anti roll bar and while some run them on the street its not a good idea. just run a stock type swaybar, and whatever rear control arms you want. The solids are a bit harsh in my opinion so something with urethane would be good, i run all UPR suspension in all my cars.

wolfes stuff is really good,they make uppers & have bushings u can buy from them,or u can use urethane bushings for uppers

ok so if im gonna run coil overs in the front with strange struts, upper and lower rear control arm kit with strange shocks, what coil spring would you recommend, would a lowering spring defeat the whole purpose of the upgrades?? or can i not get looks and performance at the same time, also with the sway bars, is any one better than the other as far as hotchkis, eibach etc or is it just the matter of brand preference

im also going to be running a blow through single turbo on a sbc so i dont kno if trying to run a street rear susp setup will even cut it....what do you think?

I run all of wolfe's Spherical setup with the anit roll bar hooked up on the street. Dave's a straight up guy... And was just telling you how it is. Most guys have no clue what its like to run a no-shit suspension. Its harsh ( sounds like the the rear is going to fall out of the car) BUt Dave's suspension works! There is a reason why people copy his product! Also if you look at the big name racers its Wolfe, skinny kid, or Team Z products . Seams like you a serious setup and if you were to put anything less in your car you would be screwing yourself. Best of luck with what ever you pick!

I use Wolfe stuff now but for your car I would def do something with urethane.

My recommendation is stock springs, HPM Mega bite jr lowers, D&D dbj adj uppers.

With that combo, I went 11.63@113 with a 1.53 60ft. Obviously the et was all in the 60ft.

How fast is your car?

the car is at the body shop gettin pretty im doing all the weatherstripping, bumper covers, lights, and paint, im waiting for the front suspension in the mail from aje, trying to figure out the rear suspension so i can order it, i want to get the wolfe subframe conectors and 6 point roll bar just tryin to decide on full drag or street/strip rear susp ..i am figuring out this whole turbo motor and turbo setup, but in the meantime ill be running a sbc with about 400hp just because i want to make sure im at the diggin racing motor madness in ronkonkoma sometime in august

Im in Suffolk county too and have been through exactly what you are going through.

With 400 hp stick with the street stuff.

If its a double digit car, street stuff is best.

Once your 9s or faster, you need the race stuff becasue the car becomes unstable because of the "lift" designs of the street stuff.

from looking at what single turbos do in a mustang i wouldnt be suprised if i land in the 9s but then comes the fact that e-town is how far away and how many times am i actually gonna go there (probably more than i think since the car will be a beast) but still it will still be in the street 75% of the time so street susp will be comfortable but will it be functional enough to provide me with more than just an insane burnout car..never thought this would be such a difficult decision

The mega bite jrs. have 2 mounting holes on the rear...one gives less lift than the other and is better when youre going faster.

how about this....i run a lower control arm kit that accepts a factory sway bar, and install an anti roll bar but leave it unhooked unless im at the track, and disconnect the sway bar??
