As already mentioned, in the stock tune at WOT the computer will try to make that shift at 126mph even with OD enabled. Fortunately most are not going that fast.
Even though the OD cancel button won't fix this problem at WOT, there is still good reason to turn OD off when running hard. When you are mostly in the throttle, but not quite at WOT, that shift can happen at a much lower speed and cause damage. Also, if you are at WOT but let up off the throttle and get back into it a little that shift can happen at a much lower vehicle speed and still break things pretty effectively as well. Turning off the OD should prevent those issues because you are not going to reach override speed.
