My battery is dead now and I drove the car 1 week ago. I'll let you know what happens with my car when I get a chance to mess around with things. Fuicking S197's and their battery issues.

Hey guys,I had the same problem with my battery the first year I had it.I have the shaker 1000 stereo in mine and read some where about turning the radio off before shutting the car off because the amps were drawing power.Ever since I started doing that i have had no problems since,still have the original battery.I just start it every weekend through winter.

Your alarm could very well be the cause. I had 2 cars in the past that became disabled due to a short in the aftermarket system. If that is the case, Ford is actually right, cause your aftermarket alarm is to blame and not covered. Im my M3 it was the ignition disabling function that was shorting, dont remember the other. See if you can disable all functions of the alarm first, before you get into an unecessary fight w/ Ford. If you can jump it and bring it to your alarm installer and have him check it.

Always happens to any car when it sits. When the car is idle, the battery is always being drawn upon, for the alarm, clock and misc other functions. You need to buy a trickle charger for the winter or any prolonged storage, that was my fix. My 360R was always going dead from non usage.

thats why you have the alarm installed by a license installer like my friends shop he covers any damage done by the alarm thats what his insurance is for.

still wouldnt.... if someone is going to steal your car they are going to steal it. id rather not worry about the set up draining batteries and whatever else it WILL screw up.

I used to lose battery charge all the time when I got my alarm installed years back. Turned out the douche knicked a wire and there was always a constant drain on the battery.....3 days, no start, and dead. :thumbsdown:

not worth the hassle. sure the installer will fix it.... but what if you are in the middle of nowhere when it drains the battery ? im sure they wont come get u

i had the same problem first year when i parked it for winter. i had to put new battery in because old one was so bad it wouldn't even take a charge. i later found out that the amps were drawing power. manually shut them off guys and no one has to drive through any windows.

It was a combination of the shaker 500 amps not turning off, fixed that by putting in a new head unit. And also My viper 5000 has the proximity sensor for when the top is down, that was causing the drain also. I just rewired it so that the proximity only works when the top is down, problems solved. Also the factory battery is crap!!!!!
