The Ford Mustang returns to the silver screen in less than two weeks with a leading role in Getaway, and you could “get away” in a free 2014 Shelby GT500 Super Snake courtesy of Fandago.
Getaway stars Ethan Hawke as former stockcar racer Brent Manga who must follow the demands of an ominous villain to rescue his kidnapped wife. As if his day couldn’t get any worse, a character listed only as “The Kid” (Selena Gomez) attempts to carjack Manga’s Shelby GT500 Super Snake at gunpoint, and our hero is forced to take her along for the ride. Two genuine Super Snakes were used in the movie, one driven on location in Bulgaria and another for audio recordings in Los Angeles. No CGI was used for the chase scenes, and 130 cars were destroyed during production.
The film’s director and producer, Courtney Solomon, made the decision to use the Shelby. “Since Getaway takes place in a foreign country, I felt strongly that we needed the quintessential American muscle car with enough star power to shine with Ethan and Selena,” said Solomon. “With 725 horsepower, amazing capabilities and great looks, the Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake was ideal for this role. Our film hasn’t even opened yet, but the tremendous interest in Getaway by car enthusiasts is impressive. We look forward to taking audiences on the ride of their lives in the Shelby Super Snake.”
