Sct Tuner problem????

Ok, so I had to get new tunes from Brenspeed. Anyway I got my tunes today and been trying since 5:30pm to install them, now its 1am. I did everything it said on sct's site. The issue I'm having is that the sct program updater page doesn't come up as a full page, it cuts off right before the browse section from where your suppose to select the tune file to upload. Therefore making it impossible to add my custom tunes. I tried un-installing, and re-installing, and it still comes up the same way. It's version 2.6 for the update. Anyone have any ideas? I tried everything, and I'm just at the point where I don't know what to do. I did exactly what it said. Thanks for any help. I have an Xcal 3 btw.

Just out of general interest is your comp a laptop? When I got my tunes mailed to me I had a similiar problem and was informed that I couldn't load them from my laptop

Yes it is unfortunately. My computer is too slow, so I tried it on the laptop. I haven't yet tried it on the computer for the obvious reason of it being slow, but I guess I might have to. Thank you.

Give Breenspeed a call and I'm certsin they will help you. I needed a new tune for my 4.10s and emmissions and I remember going to the SCT main site and finding the info.

It aint a custom tune it is a shelf tune that will only get your car in the zip code. It sounds like a easy fix...

Nah these tunes are custom. They are email custom tunes from Brenspeed.

Did you plug in the SCT to the computer before the drivers were updated by SCT site? I had (it seems I was the only one on the planet that did) and it posed many problems and SCT has tech help online and they cleared it up with me, I am not computer savy. Go and ask for help, it was quick and painless.

follow the directions on americanmuscle.com. thats what i did and had no problems

Nah these tunes are custom. They are email custom tunes from Brenspeed.

If the car is not in front of the person there really is nothing custom about them. NO 2 cars are the same we have proved it time and time again back to back dyno pulls. I can take my car and stick my file into the same combo and it needs adjusting....

+1..My email tune was a nightmare and I'll never do it again. It got me around town for a few days but then the car just stopped running. We had to literally push it in to Mustang Magic.

not to highjack this thread but how good does tuning via datalogging and email work? does it get you close to a dyno tune or is it as bad as a "custom" email tune?

I had the same problem connecting my SCT to my computer. I had to download the SCT driver before my computer would connect to my SCT. It was a simple fix. Just click on the pop-up when your computer prompts you to search online for drivers.

+1..My email tune was a nightmare and I'll never do it again. It got me around town for a few days but then the car just stopped running. We had to literally push it in to Mustang Magic.

Go through brenspeed. Their tunes are some of the best, them and bamachips. I've never had any issues with their tunes.

That is true to a degree, but they are custom in the fact that they set the tune to perform with your specific mods currently on your car. I understand what your saying, but at the same time they been tuning for years, and when they set a tune for your mods, its as close to being on point as possible, without actually being at their shop. Where as a canned tune from SCT would just be a basic tune, and thats it. It wouldn't be optimized for your car or current mods at all. Not trying to sound like an ass, just stating from experience with brenspeed, custom tunes in general, and canned tunes. Obviously a tune in person is best, but to get the most out of your car and mods without doing so, a custom emailed tune from a reputable shop, is as close to the best as you can get.

My issue has been resolved. Turns out it was that the processor in my laptop couldn't properly load the sct program. So I bought a new desktop pc, and all is well. CAI goes back on again (finally, been way too long lol) tomorrow, and new 93 tune goes in.

If you know what youe doing it is okay but it takes time to do rips and send the data log back and fourth. It is hard to data log on street you need a 3rd gear full pull and the cops might not like it.

thats exactly what i did on a back road out in the country. sending the logs and receiving new tune via email was kind of a pain but i think it was my best option as there really isn't anyone to go to around me for a dyno tune. thanks man.
