S197 Supercharger/Procharger

Hey everyone,
I have been saving my money up to finally go F.I. with my S197. I was pretty set on the KB or Saleen twin screw set up, but when I was shootin the breeze with some F-body guys at a local meet they told me to look into prochargers. I did some reading, but I guess the only way to really know is to experience it. By no means would I ever ask to drive someones car, but I'm just looking for any local guys I might be able to catch a quick ride with to feel how their F.I. set up pulls. I am in Buffalo, New York and go to plenty meets where I could meet up with someone.

dont go Saleen, the company is out of business

KB/Whipple/Techno/Edelbrock for a TS/Roots style

Vortech/Paxton/Procharger for a Centri

a TS will give you more grunt lower in the RPM range while a Centri will continue to pull harder and harder up top in the RPM range.

I was thinking about getting the Ford whipple for my s197. And have Joe from Mustang Magic install it in the winter.The best thing about it is that it comes complete with everything.someone did tell me that I would have to change my hood because it would fit.does anyone know if that is true? If so then I would go with the Roush one. I'm just looking to get about 450 HP.Just to kick the new Camaros butts. :evil: Please all add your 2 cents and advise.

The new Vortech v3 which is a centri would certainly be your most economical choice if price is an issue. If you already have a tuner you can get them for $3400 for a non-intercooled version.

Whipple looks like a hell of a set up, i just want to run a big enough pully so that I don't make boost to the point I have to forge internals

I had a procharger on my 99. started to make boost around 3k full boost was at 6100(99 auto v6) if i had a choice back then it would of been roots style.. kennebell ect.

Plus after sitting in traffic for awhile the whistle does get annoying. I love the roots style whine way better

I like the whistle of my procharger.
