Rust on my tailpipes!!

Hey guys whats up? i left my stang on the street over the winter and i did this last winter and it didnt happen now this year both my chrome tailpipes freakin rusted.i'm pissed i dont know what to do i dont feel like buying new ones is there anyway to get it off you think. Any info you guys can give me to maybe help me from buying them would be greatly appreciated thanks.

If it is pitted I would get new ones if they are just tips. If just surface use mothers chrome polish, I had to do it every year on my old motorhome with chrome bumpers after every winter. It isn't fun, but it works.
As for the smart guy to chime in....... I'm not him, well, in this dept.

I just used some fine steel wool and mothers chrome polish...looks new

when you used the steel wool and polish was it rusty before that?

There was surface rust but not much. I've since sanded them with fine sandpaper, rubbed with steel wool, and polished again and my stock tips look chrome.

but these arent stock pipes they are like 3 and half inch chrome tips should i still try the sandpaper?

I would just try to wash them real good and use chrome polish if they aren't the stock tips. Try the steel wool if they are, it'll work.

scotch bright pads....thats what we use to polish shafts on lathes, then use some mothers.

Steal some SOS steel wool pads from the kitchen and scrub away!! Then use Mother's chrome polish.

I did it today guys and it was surface rust and most of it came off. i just used a brillo and scrubbed the shit out of it, but thanks for all your help you guys are great!
