Normally when we mention RK Motors Charlotte it’s about some insanely rare or expensive Mustang being offered up for sale. While the car you see here is both rare and expensive, it’s actually a project car built by the sales and restoration shop. Dubbed the “RK527″, this custom 1967 Shelby GT500 made its debut at the 50th anniversary Mustang event in Charlotte, NC this past weekend.
Named for its all-aluminum 527 cubic inch V8 built by the legendary John Kaase, the RK527 is a “Shelby Sleeper” with all of its stock Candy Apple Red bodywork intact and a factory looking interior. The monster V8 puts out an astounding 800 horsepower through a custom Tremec T56 6-speed transmission, and a Detroit Speed Alumaframe and Quadralink setup ensure the power is put to the ground.
You can see plenty of photos of the RK527 Shelby GT500 in the gallery below, or head over to RK Motors’ web site to read more about the car.
