If you take the car to be inspected without catayctic convertors, you could even face a fine of $4,500 or even 30 days in jail, or both. N.Y. state and many other states are now getting very tough on this issue.
anyone ever herd of this someone told me this before i never knew that is this true

yah i got a guy that doesnt care about ANYTHING as long as it hooks up to the computer and pass's...never heard of this fine or ne thing, but i'm not worried about it. just find THAT guy that will help another gear head buddy out.

Well, I know I had mine inspected at Ford Dealer, and I use to have 4 cats from Factory and Now I am only running 2 that are high flow..I had no issues what so ever

Catalytic converter regulations are federally mandated by the EPA in the Clean Air Act, not NY or any other state. This letter spells it out.

In a nutshell you can be fined up to $2,500 and the shop that swaps or removes them can be fined up to $25,000. Part of the NYS inspection is a visual check, mandated by the feds. If the cats aren't there you could be in trouble. There's a reason h and x pipes with no cats are called OFF ROAD.

BTW, I have high flow cats and one of those guys who overlooks them

California charges something like 5,000 a converter missing. passing is very tough unless your vehical is fully stock.
