putting car in storage

heyy guys. life is strange and now im facing the fact of me having to put my mustang in storge earlier than anticipated. Any hints or tips on a storage plan. I have no garage and one breathable car cover. just maybe a check list of something so the car is good to go when I find my new home. Ive heard some mixed opinions but I was just curious as to what you guys would do with your mustangs in this kind of situation- thanks

Rent a garage from someone for the winter!!

Either way put it up on stands and fill your tank and use Stabil fuel stabilizer!

No its ok to leave it in for a winter... Just use fuel treadment and put it on stands!!

It wouldn't be a bad idea to take the battery out and store it in your basement or some other place...just don't leave it on bare concrete.

+1 on the battery (i knew i forgot something) if you store it in a place with electricity get a $20 battery tender and leave it plugged in for the winter so it maintaines a FULL charge. If you dont have that available pull it and keep it somewhere warm thats NOT on the concrete floor....

no doubt, i will probably store the battery on a shelf in the shed or something like that. its sad i have to start this process so early....

Yea I would go to a storage place think that's what ima but they told me I have to take all the gas out but wat the hell would they kno if I do and they got cameras and are resposible for it

well im getting married and relocating down south for a little bit for school. Moving to fortmill, sc in august and i cannot bring the cobra down as we will have too many cars in my mother in laws driveway. I have to store it until i find my own pad down there. I think its better than my fiance's original idea of me selling it and looking into another one after school. I mean im gonna get another(03/04termi vert), just want the 94 also....its my baby

All those precations are great, but also stuff rags in the exhaust and intake, it keeps the critters from cruising into the engine and making a home. Also, get yourself some fabric softeners, like the ones you use in the laundry, place them inside the car, put down a piece of plastic first as they will stain the carpet. They keep the bugs out and also keep the car from getting the musty smell of storage.

And if it going to be outside,like mine, I spray the whole underside of the car with wd40, this keeps the moisture out, I also spray the motor with a thin coat, keeps the aluminum from oxidizing.

Make sure you wax the car before putting it away, and get yourself a high quality car cover that breathes.

should i leave the wheels on or off? I heard that with the car being in the air with no wheels makes it even harder for those little critters to access tha cars compartments. Im a realist and i would think that if there is a will theres a way, they could climb up the stands then lol

If you sell it, it is going to be hard to find another one like it. If it's paid for it will only cost you storage. I put my old stang tires on mine for the winter. I take my good tires and take the valves out of them. I then stack them in storage. Pump them back up when I am ready to remount them on the car.

Get what is called a battery maintainer. It can be a battery tender, a battery doctor or go to Autozone and ask about a battery maintainer.

Make sure you put Sta-bil in the gas tank and run the car so it gets into the fuel line. If you can store it with a full tank of gas, that would prevent condensation in the tank.

Change the oil and filter before you store it. This will get rid of any condensation or impurities in the oil.

If everything is done right, the car will come to life with no problems when you start it.

When You don't have a garage, you learn these things fast. Even more so if you live in your area where winters are a little more harsh. I think I might drive the car down to my house in florida and park it in the garage there.
