so... I want something that will settle in around 350hp... talking about different combos. right now I've got an automatic 99 with a CAI, phenolic intake spacer, and a diablosport tuner. I guess power wise you could also count the full exhaust; high flow cats, x pipe, MAC catback. Sounds fantastic (for a 6).
Currently considering a few things.
1) The turbo route and a bump up to 4.2 crank and pistons. I would rather do forged internals on that also, Although, 350 is the threshold for stock 6 internals.
2) Same 4.2 but a procharger. Not as keen on this since there's an odd loss with a belt driven piece like that.
3) The M112 on top. best torque, most streetable, power down in that 2-2.5k range where it's most usable. BUT, won't fit under the hood, and heatons are, well heatons..
4) V8 swap. downfall is that the v6 4R70W only bolts up to pushrod engines.. 3.8/4.2/5.0 etc..but! I already plan on the 8.8 and I have an aluminum driveshaft.
leaves a couple options on the swap, either go stick shift or just enjoy the simplicity of the auto, with gears and a tune I have no problem with one.
I don't want to play around with a 2v, so it's definitely a 4.6 3v... aluminum, so much cheaper than a 4 valve. 310hp stock, and that torque.. hmm.. my dad's 08 F150 has the 3v 4.6 and it's great in that 4800lb thing so in a stang...
Wondering what everyone thinks. On top of it all, I want to be different. Talking about $3000-3500 for all of those options probably..
