I have a set of patriot freedom 185 heads assembled, came off good running motor. asking 600$

What motor were they on and will they work on a 83' engine?

they were on a 306, yes they will work on an 83 engine.

Does it matter if it is a non-roller engine?

no it doesnt matter, you will just need rockers and pushrods. the heads are stud mount just like the older heads.

how large are the intake valves? and i'm sorry i didn't ask all these questions all at once.

the valves are 2.02 int. 1.60 exh.

I have a stock short block and i think 202 valves may not clear the piston

I cant tell you if they will or will not, it really depends on a few variables such as your deck height, cam selection, and cam timing. you also have the option of fly cutting the pistons while the heads are off which if you plan on doing any mods to that stock short block it would be a good idea. they make a tool to do such a job and its basically fool proof and only about 45$ . I can get you the tool info if thats something you may want to do.
