Parking brake light

My parking brake light has been coming on when I stop at a stop sign. Ok, maybe I am a little dramatic with the lead foot to the stop, but it still shouldn't be going on. I was told that I should add brake fluid, so I'm doing that today. Any other words of wisdom? It seems to happen more when the car is running cold.

Yea that's what I was thinking. Hopefully it's nothing too serious causing the leak.

assuming that there are no leaks, you will need to replace your brake pads soon. As the pads wear the fluid goes from the reservoir to the caliper. You can add fluid and it will get rid of light, but when you put new brake pads and push the piston(s) back into the caliper the fluid will go back to the reservoir and spill out. Do a visual check of your brakes, check for leaks and brake pads for wear.

I honestly don't know why he made that change. Biggest mistake ever. He knows what he did though so I try not to rub it in.

don't postpone brakes too long, at least take a look at them or have someone take a look at them for you. A visual inspection should not cost much, if any.

Absolutely!! Brake pads are inexpensive and easy to replace. If they get too low they will damage the rotor and possibly the caliper. Replacing them will be 3 to 5 times more expensive than just pads!

Good, that way if its the beginning of needing brakes its will just be Pads so the cost wont be so bad...

i had this happen once inmy 97. it started after i had to make a really hard stop to avoid one of those stupid asses who pushes their baby carriage out from between parked cars and then looks to see if there is any traffic. but my problem ended up being a bent brake pad. check for that as well
