Both in the Lightning World and Mustang World it seems everyone has the same thing to say. They're good when they work BUT when they go
they go. Out of absolutely no where BAM your stranded, no warning, no reason to think it's going bad, you just get in to start it and nothing.....
It's happened to hundreds if not thousands.
Dont get me wrong it's a great Battery when new but as said their life span seems to be only 2- 3 years (and thats not much for that kind of money imo).
I had a Yellow Top in my old Lightning and it died out of nowhere and left me stranded. I threw my old 9 year old oem Batt in it I had sitting uncharged in my basement for years and years and it started right up and worked perfect for years afterward til I sold it.
Then Red Top took a chit in this Cobra 3 weekends ago, get in it to go and BAM nothing....
(3 yr wrrny expired in July)
Thats 2 out of 2 failures for me so no more Optima's are going in my cars.
I bought the top of the line Auto Zone Duralast Gold Batt for the Cobra and ran the same one in 2 out of 3 of my old Lightnings. Never once have I had a single issue with any of them no matter how many years old they were....
