O2 SLOW response.. wtf?

ok this is really starting to piss me off..

im tuned for 93 fuel, the list of mods is in my signature.

if i get any amount of fuel i go a few miles down the road and poof check engine light.. so the code reads o2 slow circuit slow response..

but if i add a can of that stp octane boost it will prevent it from happening.. i know because ive been doing it for a year (ill do nothing for a week then ill keep getting the cel so i reset and then add fuel and add the stp stuff and then i get no cel) but honestly im tired of buying this stuff lol,... im wondering if my tune is that border line? its just a 93 octane tune from sct..

heres the kicker though.. the 87 and 91 tunes do the same thing..

You may have to move your O2 sensor closer to the block. You might have to put it in a primary. Any competent muffler shop should be able to do this. The O2 may not be getting hot enough while the car is running the system check when it first starts up.

Just an idea.

Good call Chris. I agree. Narrowband O2 sensors must maintain an operating temperature of at least 300* Celcius. Although they have heating elements built in to help them get up to temperature quicker, the exhaust must maintain this temp. One other thing (more common on Long Tube Headers), the O2 sensors are placed further away from the engine than stock. This will cause a small delay in info getting to the processor. Processors generally compensate for this delay. However, sometimes it needs to be adjusted for in the tune.

i had the same problem with the 02 slow respnse and the cel came on i had boch o2 front o2 sensors they were taking a long time to start switching... i got i wanna say maxium motorsports in there now n they start to switching in less than 30sec

thanks for all the info guys. much appreciated. so..now im wondering if a wide band would fix this issue?

i also forgot to mention that when i ran the diablo sport 93 octane tune i never had this issue.. i did however have a o2 stuck on lean code and the stp stuff prevented that from happening to(the main reason i switched tune vendors) lol.. im not sure if that would make a difference or not but i did forget to throw that into the original post i made, my wife kind of rushed me out the door.

A wideband is a good tool to see what your actual air fuels are. However, it will not fix anything. If you never had the problem with the 93 tune, why don't you use that? I thought you said it is happening with every tune?

He had a tune from Diablo before now he is using SCT.

If you did not tell them you have aftermarket headers the delay could very well be your issue. Just ask for a mail order one. I believe they are 50 dollars from SCT directly.

thanks chris ill do just that then.. because both of my tuners just have the standard out of box tunes. ill contact them and see if i can get me a more specific tune.
