No EGR, no big deal?

I found out today my Windsor Sr. heads arent drilled for egr stuff so I decided to just eliminate the egr setup.

From what Ive heard eliminating it isnt a big deal and I can just get a simulator to trick the computer into thinking its still working.

Its ok to eliminate it, right?

Yeah, I think the guy thats working on my car can make one. I know alot of guys dont run it.

Do you get a CEL or do you have the simulator thing?

Neither.. I just deleted it and got 02 sensor extenders with new relocated 02 sensors and a good tune.. Runs great.

I think '94-95 has a different egr setup though but maybe Im wrong.

I really wonder if my egr was working anyway since I dont remember anything for it on my headers but maybe thats not how its hooked up?

I ditched mine and got a CEL. I have to get the resistors from radio shack.

Im trying to find a simulator but not having any luck. I know Ive seen one before.

What year is your vehicle? Mine is a 87 with mass air conversion using 89 computer harness + 89 a9l computer. Not sure if youll get CEL with different yr. I thought i saved the plans for tricking egr using resistors from radio shack. Ill see if i can find.......

Mine is a '92.
I actually bought a simulator and a block off plate online tonight.

I had a cel for the evp sensor when I bought the car so I know the cel would be on.

Thats a big ass head.... hope you have the supporting mods to handle it! Are your pistons notched for big valves? Also if its on a stock 302 based motor I would run a smaller duration cam and more lift to help keep the velocity up in the runners. I don't know what your plans are so really the cam duration can go either way! But I just wanted to give you a heads up because with that head you're going to loose a lot of low end torque on your intake charge (if its not set up right).

I never ended up making the simulator. My friend said its better to leave it unconnected w/ no simulator if you can deal with CEL. He said if computer knows egr is not functioning because its unconnected it adjusts timing and fuel for no egr. If computer thinks egr is working with simulator then it will take out fuel and timing and youll run lean. Not sure how true it is im sure someone will chime in who has more knowledge than me.

Well its not a 302 although it is 302 based.

Ive got good pistons and the valve to piston clearance is not an issue- its been checked. The cam has .579 lift.

Actually nothing is stock on this engine.
