I totally tanked last night at the Valley. Transmission shifts but the shifts are not firm crisp shifts that plant power. My launch / 60Ft sucks ROYAL ASS...

I need to make a decision on a transmission as soon as possible. I would like to order something this week and get it in the car next week so i can run it again with my current setup. I know i have asked Transmission ?'s in another thread but i really dont know what route to go..

Unfortunatley i dont like my options.. I have considered a C4 but i drove the car home last night and it has no top end without the OD... I would like to make the switch but i dont know what to do. I would like to stay auto but it looks like i need to sacrifice street driveability to do so.

Last night i was running with the OD off and by the tim i was hitting the traps it was up there close to redline... Im running 4.10's. Should I consider running 3.73's or 3.55's with a C4 or an AOD... or should i just keep the rear and leave it alone and have LenTech build me an AODE so everything lines up and works??? I already have an alum driveshaft / safety loop thats all setup and mounted for my current transmission setup.....

Any suggestions? I need to do something right away!! Should i consider going with a T5 or a T56??????

I had a feeling when you said you had the car loaded up on a Friday Night you were going recin'. Sorry for your misfortunes with the tranny, but someone will step up and help out.

All these things depend on you. It's hard to have a street car and all out track car at the ame time without giving up driveability. If you are more concerned about ET than driving on the highway then go with a C4 and you want the RPM's to be just on the shift light when you go through the traps. If you would rather cruise the freeway and save the driveability and only go to the track a few times a year than stay with an OD trans. I don't think you will be happy with a stick car. Just my $.02 but the decision is really what your intentons are with the car.

to much gear, wrong converter, and in need of more power..... Its not the aode, its just a mixed match combo.

I wouldn't try and build a tranny if you plan on building an engine..... you kinda going backwards and will being doing things twice.

Enjoy the car for the rest of the year. Sell the tranny, engine and the other odds and ends. Build an engine and spec out an transmission and converter accordingly.

In your other thread I think you mentioned your going to be making more power over the winter. I think your 4.10s are going to be too much gear if are making more power and that you will need to go down to 3.73s or 3.55s anyways. I'm not sure what your current motor/tranny set up is now, feel free to PM me with it if you want and I can better help you. But without knowing more I would say C4 with 3.55s so you'll be ready to make more power next year.

go auto i like the c4 but if you need od then go with a lentech. if your gonna race it nothing beats a built auto. i have a Dynamic mighty mite c-4. great trans

what kind of power are you making and with what mods? what are your plans for the winter? how much power do you want to be making? how often are you racing it compared to how often you are only driving it?

Right now im making around 320RWHP with a 306 and AFR heads with a custom ground cam.

This winter i am upgrading to a DSS 331 with my AFR's / cam and an S trim. I am planning to be 500+ RWHP..

I did check the transmission from Summit made by PA and i think its going to be a great deal. I have over $1500 is NOS stuff to return to Summit and i can use that money towards the transmission.

Im going to call PA in the morning to see what they can build me..

In my humble opinion.........D.S.S. SUCKS BALLS!!!!! Their engines are crap, their machining is crap and they use crap parts! That's why they are so well priced. Please do more research before you buy a crate engine. That is only my opinion but I would safely bet that 75% of the D.S.S. customers from the last few years will not buy their stuff again and have really nasty things to say. If you rally want an engine that will stand the test of time give me a call or PM D1Coupe and SomeWhatStock to get their opinions.

I have my converter up for sale if youre interesed rob. Took me from running 12.6's@112 to 11.8X's@112. Lemme know if youre interested. I have 4.10's in my car as well and its a 331 setup. On motor that gear/tire/trans ratio is perfect. On spray the gear needs to be dropped down some or else im in O/D after the 1000'.

I know Im going with a Dynamic M2 C4 for next season!
