low oil pressure

I have low oil pressure and looks lik oil in my exhaust aswell what can cause this to happen? Fried rings?

Could be a ton of things.

Rings
Head gasket
Pump
Combination of a few.

Damn my first thought was the rings cause the motor has seen nitrous but if it were the rings would there b a lose in compression?

Test each cyl..(Leak down test)

Make sure you do it with the engine warm.


Could be other things too.

When you drive does it go up? Is the car knocking?

Joe did a compresion test it was perfect all across its down to bout 40-50 and it does hav a noise. . .mains?

And I have a mechanical auto meter gauge and when im driving it goes up a little and at idle it goes back down. . .

The cam has a gear on the front side. It can't really go in wrong. Damn man! Sorry for the bad news!

mar car does the same at idle the oil pressure is real low but wen i give it gas its above normal

Since you say that the timing keeps moving around, I would start by checking the distributor gear. Pull the distributor and see if the gear still has its teeth intact (distributor drives the oil pump)
though I have to tell you that having oil in the exhaust is not a good sign, do a compression test for each cylinder, after you get a reading, drop a little bit of oil down the cylinder do the test again and see if the compression goes up

If you only have 40-50 psi in each cylinder then the engine is fried. It really needs to be taken apart and inspected to see what went wrong.

Brand new distributor installed by mustang magic . . .the motor definately has internal issues its makin noise

Define low oil pressure?! ....Ford measures 30 psi at 2,000 RPM's to be Normal...

Also, oil pressure will drop at idol....all depends on the clarences, I've seen some pretty built 5.0's have 20 psi (warm) at idol and still run strong!
