longer gears help

i have a 92 gt vert KB blown and i converted from auto to manual (T5) and i feel like my gears are sooo short i dont even need 1st or 2nd and i have 3.73 gears in the rear that were there... is there anything i can do to get my gears to be longer?

i run 2.73,,,with tremec trans,,,45 in 1st geat 80 in second 120 in third,,very nice,,il never use anything else,,,do the math before you choose a rear and u can choose when u want to shift,,,,so if u have 2.73 with lets say a 4th gear ratio of 1.00 u would be at 2150 rpm at 60mph with rouhgly a25 inch diameter tire,,,with 3.08 ud be at 2400 rpm in 4th ,3.27 would be at almost 2600 rppm in 4th,, and 3.55 will be at 2800 rpm in 4th, hope this helps

+1, do the math. but in addition, what do you use it for primarily, street car, track car? the KB makes a lot of low end torque so you certainly do not need a short gear in first. for comparison sake, the 03 cobra comes with a 2.66 gear with 3.55's for a total ratio of 9.4:1. Assuming you have a T5 with the 3.35 1st gear, its equivalent to having ~2.73's.
You could also swap the T5 out for a wc version with the 2.95 1st gear . . .definitely more expensive than a gear swap.
lastly, if this is a track car, what speed do you trap at? that will help you decide as well.

I like 3.55 with a Kenne Bell, I ripped off 1.5x 60fts with one and those gears. 3.27 would be a nice gear as well, that's as tall as I would go personally. Another option would be 3.31 since many of the newer Mustangs and trucks come with those.

And you went from a 2.40 1st gear AOD to a 3.35 1st gear T-5 too so that's much more gear.

You can try putting a taller tire that would help a little bit..If i was you with that type of blower,i would go with a 3:27 especially if you dont track the car

Sounds like you probably should have kept the auto if you hate shifting lol. But 3.08 or 3.27 might be your best bet.

For what?? LOL. They are good for high speeds that is about it, and good mileage on the highway. For performance they are horrible.

i like to run the highways,im all about the speed,y u ask?i can do 150 in 4th gear at 6k rpms,thats nasty!!!!!,,,i will never run anything else, if i ever save up and get a charger the thing would fly,,i dont really care about the 60ft or quarte mile cause im usually doing a burnout if im going that slow

No idea, I did know a guy with a 93 Saleen that had 3.08 gears and it would do 160+ h/c/i/sc'ed but I'll pass on that lol.
