Hello fellow Mustang fanatics! My story? It all started in 1966 (I was 6) when my mom's best friend bought a 65 Mustang 289 with a 4-spd. The Stang was red, she was a beautiful blond and I was hooked. In 69 my dad took me to the local Ford dealer to check out the new cars and I got to sit in a 69 Mach 1. Don Prudhomme's dragster was also on display but it was the Mach 1 that made my day. My first car in 76 was a 65 Galaxie but my second was an 68 S-code 390 Cougar XR7(a whole lotta car for a 17 yr old). Close, but no Mustang. Marriage, 3 kids and still no Mustang until that fateful day in 92 when a service writer I worked with let me take a spin in his 89 5.0 LX Sport. Whoa! Way more car than my modded 83 Supra (I have worked parts in Toyota dealers since 81 and am a Parts Manager for 16 years). The good news was that my friend was turning that leased 5.0 back to Ford in a few months. I was able to buy his lease out for less than $5K. Enjoyed it for 4 years. I had 2 more 5.0 GT's and then in 04 bought a used 04 GT but only kept it for 8 months. 2 kids in college and a 3rd in high school dictated something without a monthly payment. Besides, I'm a big guy and that 04 just didn't fit right like the old 5.0's did. A few Crown Vics and Toyotas later I'm again looking at getting in another Mustang. I'm digging the 13-14 V6 Premium which I understand is faster than my 04 GT was. All my previous Mustangs were 5-spds but this time around it will have to be a automatic. Arthritis in my knee is no joke. I'll be here looking for advice and seeing what others have done to their late model cars.
