okay so ive been looking some more and hearing everyone ranting and raving about the kenne bell superchargers i think this is the one to get. I have a stock block with cobra intake and 65mm tb and seeing kb has the standard 2.1 supercharger just for the cobra intake is this the better buy. It sounds like less hassle bolting on than the vortech. Just want to run on the street and try eating some vettes. What do you guys think kenne bell or vortech v3

If moneys not an isue id go for the kb!!!I really want one myself but they are pretty costly!!GL though!!

I think the V3 is better, but does sound like an easy install for the KB. Can't lose with either unit!

Tells you the difference between something like a vortec and kenne bell typs.

Turbos VS Superchargers.

They keep talking about Lag on turbos I don't have lag with my system. But I did go to the track recentely and saw an older Camare with a big turbo on it. Thing had so much lag and it only made a few psi. Turbo was way to big for this motor.

i appreciate everyone's input, leaning hard on the kenne bell standard kit.For 3000 doesn't seem like a bad charger and the install seems fairly easy compared to other brands.

depends on what your combo is or will be. the V3's/centrifigul superchargers will always make more HP but the kb/positive displacement superchargers will always make more bottom end torque, especially in the 3000rpm and below (of course given the same max boost levels). so if you're running a stick, go kb. If you're going to run an auto, you won't have to worry about the low end grunt cause you can select the converter stall accordingly.

but i would recommend going with neither and going with a turbo kit, if i could do it all over again, thats what i'd do.

I've installed a few of both on foxbodys, and driven them both. On the street the KB is alot of fun and will still run 12's with ease. My friends 91 GT with close to same mods me, I was running a Powerdyne he had a KB I got a 12.77@111 and he ran a 12.9@108. BUT I'm a better driver.

The Vortech is not hard to install, especially not the the self contained units.

I like KB's but the price is more than they are worth to me, thats just my opinion.

If you like ALOT of tq and instant boost get the KB. I would not run more than 3.55 gears either.

I know the kb is more money than the v3 i was looking at, i just thought for street thumping that the kb would be better with the boost being availble at a lower rpm. I have 373 gears now, is that to much for the kb. You said you installed the kb are they pretty easy, do you have to use a fmu on stock injectors? i currently run a cobra intake with 65mm tb bbk shortys with full exhaust no cats,moroso fenderwell cold air kit. The car is a five speed,do you think im better off with the v3 for the money????

3.73 are fine you already have them, no bog deal. You would need to use the FMU if keeping stock injectors yes. How much boost are you planning on running and what are your goals? If you just want a fun street car the KB is going to make you grin for sure with all the lowend available. Drag radials are a must!

If I was going more for 1/4 times or top end power I'd say go with the Vortech, but if its just a street car and you want a torque monster get the KB.

check out BG custom turbo kits, they are less than $3K and are a good compromise between the available boost from a v3 and a kb. . . plus they'll make at least 40HP more than a supercharger kit at the same boost level.

Getting a K/B installed on my GT. Went from a ProCharger to the K/B. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I wanted instant BOOST so I switched.
