internal problem please help!

I have a clicking noise commin from the engine can't tell if its from the heads or engine itself but I realize tha my oil pressure is floating up and down aswell any ideas I had a loose rocker last time I heard a noise but sum1 else told me a bearing in the crank but I don't wanna believe tha lol n e ideas?

if the oil pressure is changing you may have spun a rod bearing :nervous:

A spun bearing will make the motor sound like a jack hammer. Atleast thats how my POS Blazer sounded.

A clicking noise could be a loose rocker, collapsed lifter, ever so slight header leak or in the worst case a rod bearing. Is the idle going up and down?

Dont get scared just yet. Take the rockers off and check them and the balls on the end of the pusrods to make sure they aren't damaged. Also push the pushrods by hand and see if you can push down any lifters. Oil pressure can and will fluctuate by a bad oil pump. Check all that first before you start pulling the crank out.
And toomanytoys is also correct. A small header gasket leak will tick just like a lifter going bad!

Thanks I've been nervous but don't think its a rod bearing not loud enuff sounds lik the head on the right side think a loose rocker ill keep u guys posted thanks again for all the input!

Start with the small stuff and work your way up, It sounds like a rocker/lifter issue. The sound would be more noticeable if you had a spun rod bearing as opposed to a ticking lifter. Good luck man, I hop it's something easy!

I was in this boat this summer. Went to drive the track at Watkins Glen and on the way there i lost oil pressure for a second or two, but then it raised back up to just above red. Engine had oil, motor wasnt nocking. But it was smoking like a bat outta hell. Went and drove the track, made it back home, and changed the oil. It was Castrol oil, i will never use it again. I put 20w50 Valvoline VR1 with zinc. Oil pressure still fluctuates a bit, but it runs good. Still smokes bad when you reef on it. Took out all plugs and every cylinder was dry. To this day i still dont know wtf is up with it....

It's a common problem for 5 liter Mustangs for loose or bad lifter's, after the abuse or cold motor running hard days, missing oil changes and imply just regular vibration, the possibilities are endless on the the cause of it, but the roller rockers tend to get loose and just need to be adjusted with a feeler gauge, if you listen to the valve cover you can problably hear the valves taping the covers.
