Installed Borla Duel Exhaust System...

I just had the Borla Duel exhaust system installed in my 2007 Mustang V6, and it sounds great!!!!!! but if anything I have definitely have had a decrease in Torc and Horsepower. I called Borla and they said that is very unusual that there is a decrease, but he also said that the full effect of the system could take a couple of hundred miles to kick in. He also said that although a tune is not required, it could help. I called Bama Tuning, where I bought my tuner through American Muscle, and they said that there is no tune available for exhaust system mods.......bama was not very helpful at all, but borla wanted me to contact them after I put on the couple 100 miles, and if no improvement to let them know, and they will try to help me out, so that is what I will do.
Has anyone else out there expierence this same problem after switching from stock to duel exhaust in there v6?????????

Exhaust systems don't really yield any power gains unless doing full exhaust from the headers back. A catback on older Stangs maybe small 7-10hp gains, but axle backs don't really give anything except sound. Borla are straight through mufflers, so you will lose some back pressure, resulting in a minimal torque loss, but nothing to worry about. As far as the exhaust tune, Bama is correct. Most companies only have tunes for when you change out the headers and mid pipe. And again, that's because the axle backs don't yield any gains, at least not enough to waste time trying to tune for them.

Honestly I think there may be some perception problems. I have switched to two different axlebacks and none of these resulted in any power difference. Bama was actually very helpful towards you as they could have sold you a tuner for no reason and taken your money but instead they chose to do the right thing and informed you that no tuning was required. As said before, the only exhaust mod that really gains any HP on the S197 Mustangs are going to be headers and a couple of HP from switching to an O/R pipe.

What did you do for a midpipe? Was there previously an X-pipe or an H-pipe on your car when you put on your Borlas or the factory Y-Pipe?

Yea I've never felt a difference in my 2006 GT or the 2011 5.0. Just sound. Dyno numbers say you lose 3-4lb/ft, but your not gonna feel that difference with the butt dyno lol. And that's only with straight through mufflers since your losing back pressure, but at the same time you gain 2-3hp, same goes for an o/r mid pipe. On my 2002 I def noticed a difference in power, but they also had 4 cats (2 on each side) and you changed the whole catback, which had horribly restrictive bends. The 05+ don't have the restrictive bends, and the cats aren't as restrictive, and there are only 2, so obviously resulting in zero to minimal power gains.

You paid all that money for a full catback? The bends on a S197 are not that restrictive. Just the Axlebacks would've been fine. I'm hoping your confused, because catbacks on 05+ Stangs aren't worth the extra cash. I doubt you lost power though. As stated, maybe a few lbs of torque, but nothing you could feel.

I didn't do my system form the axle back, I did it from the cat back, so there should have been a power difference.....Bama, was not helpful to me at all, since I already have the tuner, and the new tune would have been for free. I just got the feeling that they wanted to get me off the phone....
When I installed the Borla system from the cat back I had the factory Y pipe on....

There still won't be a power difference really. The S197's exhaust is not restrictive, so there's really no power to be gained.

I feel you may be forgetting the fact that his car is a V6 thus there was only one stock pipe...

Even still, a tune would not be needed. The only time you need to do a tune is if you add Long Tubes or you add an off road exhaust. When I did mine and went from a Y-pipe to an X-pipe no tune was needed. Only a tune for the CAI that was added. Unless you have a dyno sheet proving that you were down on power I would have to say that there is some perceived loss of power that may be happening. Adding a Catback isn't going to gain you much if any power even on the 4.0

Oh I know, but the V6 didn't have restrictive bends either, that's why I was referring to all S197's from 2005-2013.
