how to lower the carburator timing

I just got my notch tune by my friend, and now the rpm at idle is a little over 1k, the car has a b cam, and shouldnt it sound a little loopy, I asked my friend but he said if he lowers the carburator the car would choke. I would love to have the loopy sound I heard from other mustangs with b cam on youtube how can I lower the carb just a little???

If you want to lower the idle then turn the idle screw down. What carb are you using? If it wants to quit at a normal idle rpm than it's not set right. I assume it is loading up with fuel when it idles lower?

nevermind I lower it to around 900rprm I found out how to do it on youtube lol, and is not choking at this rpm so i'm happy thank you. is a 750 holley, 306 motor with bcam what would be the ideal rpm for this car? , and another question lol If i get flowmaster 10 series muffler would i get a ticket in nyc, and lower westchester??

Depends what the rest of your exhaust is. IF you have a factory mid pipe, probably not but anything else than that and you'll have a good chance of getting some written compliments.

That is a rather large carb if it is a stock motor.

i have bbk long tubes, with or h pipe, I thought they only bother the idiots with the honda civics, and they let the muscle cars be as loud as they can since their muscle cars

750 cfm is pretty big on a bolt on 302. 600-650 would be better....

The 750 is a bit big for 306ci. With that said, it may be difficult to tune it correctly.

it had a 650 when i bought it, and it was choking, and shutting off,I took to a shop, and the guy said it was too small and put a 750 on it so maybe the car has been modified more internally idk i bought it with the motor as is and id never touched inside the motor

306 is just going .30 over on a rebuild, but with a basic, mild cam and I'm going to assume iron heads, 600-650 would be better suited. Tough to dial it in when you have too big of a carb.

uhhhh for a 306 it sure hauls ass, you know i have no idea maybe it is a 650 and the guy lied to me i can't tell

I don't know man, maybe the last carb had something wrong with it. I've seen some dyno sheets with guys running a 600 or 650 carb on a smaller motor like this and it makes MORE power than a bigger one like a 750. Horsepower TV had a show a few months ago that tested one motor with a few different carbs to show the differences, I can't remember what motor they used but it was interesting none the less.

Try this link. 750 cfm sounds too big. The problem with your 650 may have been too small discharge nozzles, the 650 was most likely poorly tuned. Holley Interactive Carburetor Selector

The cops in yonkers seem to be cooler to muscle than the ricer guys. NYPD is full of "tuff guys" so u might get stopped cause u drive a better car

The guy is wrong. For a mild 302, 750cfm is way too much. My brother's 306 with massive heads and nitrous is a custom 730cfm by Pro-systems. It has 200cc Twisted wedges, a .577 / .564 lift cam and a heavily ported Super victor intake and makes about 550hp with a 100 shot. A 650 is plenty for your engine.
