GT tail lights don't fit a GT?

I have a set of GT tail lights here to put in my 91 GT and they don't fit. All bolt holes line up but there ends up being a gap between the car and the light. I now assume not all GT tail lights are the same depending on the year. The lights came with the car so I didn't buy them. They also don't line up very nice with the rear of the quarter panel. Pictures are uploading now.

Some fit better than others, heat and old age can be an issue. That or if someone had the lenses off before.

Fox tail lights from 83-93 are all interchangeable.

Except 79-82s...they have different light socket locations.

Well WTF. Both the passanger and driver side wouldn't even touch the car. All the bolts lined up but there was a huge gap between the rubber seal and the body all the way across the length of the light.

Yea I know that but I think he meant all the 87-93 as the older cars did not have a different tail assembly LX/GT was the same.

Strange. Ive got GT tails on my LX and they fit great

i put 86 lx taillights in my 91lx,,,i know what he means cause it doesnt match as good as the ones that it came with,doesnt meet with the bodylines as good,,

I just bought tails from an older Lx and they fit my car perfectly.

I need to get better pictures. This is passanger side and it's better then the driver side. You can see light between the rubber seel and the body. I am afraid to tighten the muts any more.

I think they should fit better then that too. Parts, well, the entire exhaust from that GT is in front of the engine hoist, ford block, header for a 12/24 valve cummins. Other side of the car there are some chevy blocks and a couple different sets of heads. Too much stuff.

Well, my gt lights fit the same as the bottom pic does. They don't go all the way out to the end. I'm not sure about how they look from the top view though.
