If you want to rate a shop, go here. But only do if you have first hand experience of said shop/store. That is where people go to get info.
If you heard from some guy or some other forum, that is not a legit review.

There are a few good shops around (MM and Super Street in LI, XXTuning and Jannetty Racing in CT, Turbo People in Westchester, etc. I'm sure their supporters would all adamently claim that each is the best. I know a few guys that go to MM and love them, I know a few who have and think they suck. Every one has their own opinion whether it's right or wrong, and that's our right.
To back Will up here, Wildponies you are obviously a MM supporter and that's great, but if you're gonna say stuff like Joe @ MM is by far the best Mustang shop in the north east, that MM is by far the most reliable shop around, without giving proof of your own, and then requiring anyone giving negative feedback to back their statement up, you're contradicting yourself.

.I don't normally get involved it threads like this, as I find it counter productive. But somewhat stock is a personal friend and has been for years, so I'm surprised by his posts. We helped him build his car into an 8.40 performer on a shoe string budget, I never charged him full price and sometimes didn't charge him at all. As far as I know he hasn't gone any faster with his "new" shop. For the record all labor at Mustang Magic is warranteed for 12 mos/ 12,000 mile. That means that if anything goes wrong that can be attributed to our install labor will be fixed at no charge to the customer. We have been in business for twenty years, you don't do that by screwing your customers....
This is all true and and I will and ALWAYS give credit where credit is due...you can add that Joey and Steve helped me go 8.90s on a 2 bolt block.
I posted that I have had many positive experiences with you and my concern was only the censorship. My point is that people have positive and negative experiences everywhere, thats a part of doing business, and can be spoken about without a thread being locked.
And as far as not going "faster at my new shop", w/e. My new shop is my driveway and I just finished rebuilding almost the whole car so it hasnt been out yet. Thats understood and I am not saying you or anyone else shouldn't state there opinions but if your gonna talk bad then back it by facts...thats all. Just saying avoid MM is a crapy thing to say if you don't state why...and to answer mean LX they have been around for over twenty years and you don't last that long in this business if you suck as all those guys stated and on another note they always stand behind there product, Been in countless magazines write ups and have won event after event with there sponsored cars...Oh and thats just my opinion but I backed it up with some facts thats the diference.

Add...can you really find 1 bad thing that I said about MM? I said that every shop has had both happy and unhappy customers. Anytime that money is being exchanged for goods and services on a repetitive basis, whether for profit or not, there will always be the people who are unhappy regardless of how realistic or unrealistic their expectations are. Its their own right to hold resentments and to express them. Accepting this is a part of being in business. I also said that I doubt that 1 negative post is really going to steer someone toward or away from a certain shop.

I think this is funny. Someone comes on here ASKING for opinions on local shops, and when someone (regardless their reasoning) states a negative about Mustang Magic, everyone jumps to the protective. I've had my issues where I wasn't happy with MM, but MANY people are very happy there. Part of being in business is that you want to satisfy as many of your clients as possible. I'm sure Joe from Mustang Magic knows that. It is important that all the information be out there though because people are allowed to give their opinions regardless of the reasoning. Guess what, if we were all standing around at a car show and the same question was asked, people would give their opinions and not hold back. Why shouldn't people feel able to do the same here? Joe's reputation will not be hurt, like he said, hes been in business 25 years. He has enough positive word of mouth to keep business coming in. BUT, people should be allowed to share their input.

The reason he hasn't gone faster, is because he hasn't been back out on the track with it finished. But even if he had it out 100x over, Will didn't state anything bad about MM. Why attack whomever is currently working on his car? My suggestion as a business owner, stay out of posts on the internet. People will share their opinions. If your providing quality work, you'll continue to get work. But hopping in here to try to stick up for yourself does nothing positively. If you've done work well enough, they'll be enough people to support you.

Have you ever spent years building a business through hard work, and sweat, only to have someone, affiliatted with another like business, trash you on the boards? I've said on this and other sites, when looking for a shop to work on your car, ask three questions (1) was the job done right? (2) was the price fair? (3) does the shop you chose back up their work? If the answer to any one of these three questions is no, find another shop.
Joe, what remarks offended you? I reread this thing multiple times and cant find anything that I said against that was against you. I mentioned another shop AFTER the person starting the thread had already said that they wouldn't consider you. I would normally mention more than 1 shop whether by a post or PM. IMO, there is enough to go around.
The worst part is, that I turn all the wrenches and do all of my own electrical stuff. Yea, I was at S/S on Saturday. D1Coupe got me out of a jam by taking apart and clocking an alternator that we had to throw on there, helped me get the right size belt for it after mine got shredded to pieces, he changed the angle of my belt tensioner (its too tight to get 4 hands on that thing). The only S/S employee to lay hands on the car was Phil who got #1 to TDC so we can get the timing pointer in the right spot (I had to modify the pointer after I put the crank trigger in) he then helped me check some other things. Everything else, I did at home. I was able to bring them a running car after ripping out every single wire and whatever was attached to it, after taking the intake and rockers off and putting it back together, after installing a new turbo, DFI, MSD box, Electronic Boost Controller, Data logger, Crank trigger, distributer, who knows WTF else... So really, this "new shop" is me.
