When I first read about the Ford Mustang getting outsold by the Dodge Challenger for February and YTD sales I actually got a good laugh. My laughter was pure amusement as I really don't think everybody is comparing apples to apples. Yes the Dodge Challenger outsold the Mustang for February and YTD sales but sales of the Mustang over the last two months have been the worst in their 45-year history and also the fact a new refreshed 2010 Mustang model is about to hit dealer lots in April so nobody is buying now. Another driving factor for the 2009 Dodge Challenger is they are offering for the first time three different models which should increase sales. Those coincidental happenings have opened the door for the Dodge Challenger to have one glorious headline that we might never see again, so enjoy it while it lasts.
For those curious what the numbers are, the Dodge Challenger sold 3,283 units in February, the Ford Mustang sold 2,990, a difference of 293 cars. YTD sales for the Dodge Challenger are 6,040 to the Mustangs 5,934.
