First Car.....Need Ideas!!!

Okay so I am 16 years old, i get my full license in the beginning of September. I just bought a red 2000 mustang gt because I am 16 and can not find a summer job in this economy my budget is somewhat limited. The car already had a cold air intake and brand new black rims and tires. What are some inexpensive mods for the car? Either for looks or performance, so far i was thinking black vinyl stripes and smoking out the headlights and tail lights. Any thoughts?!?!

What is inexpensive to you? for like $300 you can get gears installed.. Gears are awesome.

First of all, allow me to congratulate you on getting a Mustang and welcome to the site.
After you do what you mentioned I think you next mod should/could be lowering spring.

I would not recomend stripes, although they would look great, they attrtact a LOT of attention from both pedestrians and law enforcement alike, having points on your lic and bieng only 16 will make your insurace(or your parents) VERY expensive.

yeah i kno, i am defiantly going to be pulled over a couple times just because of the car and how young i look. It should help having my dad on the job and a PBA card tho

haha yahh that should help... 3.73's with a programmer all day long should be 1st mod's. then you need atleast a cat back exhuast to get the car sounding right

Congrats. Another vote here for 3.73 gears. Ford brand. They are the gears that should've come with the cars. The factory gears are so tall it makes it harder to drive. Tint isn't too expensive (not on the windows that roll down though) and can make a huge difference. Lowering springs are inexpensive but can be by the time you get the correct sway bar endlinks, caster camber plates, ball joints, shocks, and struts!

my advice forget about cosmetic stuff.. i would go with a set of gears and a shifter if its a stick car. those along with a set of underdrive pullies will give you some umph to the car.. the shifter is just because short throw rules stock stick drools.

they all run about the same amount of money.. when you factor in the install. gears will be the most noticable item if you get them get a trac lock rebuild kit with them.

ditto on the 3.73's, steeda makes a good pullie set, ford makes the best gears in my opinion, shifter i would say pro 5-0, cat back exhaust i would say SLP LMII
as far as the rest goes get a little bit when ya can.
