So I smoked the clutch in my car a month or so ago at the track and parked it but now Im thinking of getting it replaced before I put it away for the winter.
It has a Zoom clutch now and I think its a piece of shit.

Which of these clutches should I get?

My car has a h/c/i 347, 4:10 gears and other bolt ons. No idea on the hp and the car is slow as shit at the track, probably due to a junk clutch.

A h/c/i 347 that's slow? I'm not sure I've heard of that one before, lol. I don't have any experience with those clutches, but I've heard that Centerforce and Ram are pretty good. I wouldn't go with a fidanza clutch though...

I had a King Cobra clutch a while back and wasnt impressed with it, especially after it caught fire at the track.

Whats wrong with the Fidanza?

And 13.7 at 105 is not fast by any means. The car ran 13.7 at 103 with a h/c/i 302 in it.

I have had good luck with my Spec clutch and pedal effort his almost stock-like.
I am currently running their stage 3+ at a little over 700whp

Well, I heard that Fidanza wasn't that good, I actually don't know of anyone that used a fidanza clutch in a mustang before.
That doesn't make any sense that 45 more cubes of displacement would net you the same time as the 302 did. Do you not have any traction with it?

i got a stock motor but i run a fidanza flywheel and king cobra clutch,,ive been dumping the clutch for about 9k miles,maby 3 or 4 good burnouts every sunday cruise,still grabs fresh,its prety nice,it revs and drops alot quicker,has a ruffer idle,and has a replaceable surface so u only have to buy surface disc when u make a clutch change,idk how good the cobra clutch would be for a 347 tho,herd they were only good till about 350 horses

I had a Spec clutch at one point but ruined it towing the car in 1st gear on the highway at 70 mph and the shop I was towing the car to (for bad head gaskets) put the shitty Zoom clutch in.

This clutch only has about 2k miles on it, if that so Im pretty sure the new flywheel I got about 1k miles ago with the new motor is ok and I wont change it. Maybe just hit it with a scuff pad disc.

The car seemed to get ok traction after 2nd gear but the POS clutch kept slipping. The clutch would spin more than the tires it seems. Ive got BFG drag radials on it now. Theyre not as good as the ET Streets I used to have but I sold those.

Really I was thinking about swapping in a GM 200r4 but realized a new clutch is more within my current budget at this time. I think Ill just stop drag racing and possibly make the car handle or sell it.

If it wasnt for needing to fix a tailshaft seal leak before putting it away for the winter Id just wait until spring but since it needs that I decided I should get a clutch at the same time.

i wouldnt really be able to make a suggestion being i only ever ran the cobra,but i never had a motor i felt being worth anymore clutch then the cobra deliverd,,,still works great for stock application,if u could even think of sellin ur stang ur not doing enuff burnouts,go melt a set of tires and see how u feel,ha ha

maby upgrade to like a kevlar clutch and see,,if u go to dealerships they will be glad to give u used tires,i know i have like 8 sets,it cost them a dollar per tires to get rid of,,,and being old they spin easy

If youre spinning clutches that easy maybe you should check the cable adjustment. You may not be getting full engagement. Spec and Ram both have good reps. As for Centerforce, all I can say is that my blown 331 absolutely murdered it. When I called Centerforce they said it let go cause I did a burnout at the track (!) with it. If you spun the disc you will need to resurface the flywheel. A scuff pad aint gonna cut it.

Too late to play with the cable now, atleast I think so.

I havent even so much as started the car since driving it home after smoking the clutch a month ago so I really dont know how bad it actually is but Im pretty sure it needs a new clutch. It was slipping pretty bad on the ride home but I got home ok.

DOH!!!

my 93 GT ran 13.80@100 then a 13.9@103 with stock motor, 3.27 gears, exhaust, and pulleys! Something is not right somewhere for sure....

I have ran or driven with most of the clutches out there. I like the Centerforce DF but you want the one listed for the 96-98 Cobra as it is the same size but actually holds more power than the 5.0 clutch. Strange but true.

My friends 93 LX ran 10.81@126.7 with a Centerforce DF with a stock T-5 on a h/c/i stock shortblock. That was with stock cable and quadrant as well.

If you have an adjustable clutch setup 90% of the time thats the issue for burnt/slipping clutches and also ruined trannies!!! I found this out the hard way along time ago.

The ONLY cable I will use is an OEM Ford unit....the aftermarket ones are junk most of the time.

I forget what this cable is. Ive got the receipt but dont feel like digging for it now. Its got an aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster too.

I dont know what the deal with this car is. Its always been slow. Its got a stock t5 and 4:10's.

im sure the abuse i drop on my king cobra clutch is more then most and it still grabs like new,,im sure they dont just sell a slipping clutch out the box,but,it only hold 350 horses so if ur pushing more its gonna slip,,i also use the jegs,clutch calbe and quadrant,firewall adjuster,,,only thing i can say is that the cables r kinda weak,already broke 2 in 9k miles,,,,
