In November of last year we brought you news Classic Recreations out of Oklahoma was granted a license to build new 1967 Shelby GT500's as continuation vehicles. Those vehicles will be known as Shelby GT500CR models using the classic '67-'68 as a platform. Up to this point all we had to go on was renderings but now Classic Recreations has released details and countless photos of the first prototype which was announced recently in Las Vegas. The new 1967 Shelby GT500CR will be powered by a 427ci V-8 (7.0-liters) pumping out 545 horsepower to cast aside any doubt this baby can run with the big dogs. If 500 plus horsepower is not enough you can opt for the Venom model which adds a supercharger system good for 780 horsepower. Each of these vehicles is hand-built in Oklahoma with model specific bodywork, custom paint and hand stitched upholstery. Other goodies found on the Shelby GT500CR include 17-inch wheels and tires, 9-inch rear end, Tremec Transmission and modern coil-over suspension with rack-and-pinion steering.
The interior receives some attention as well featuring Carroll Shelby signature seats and gauges along with Shelby logos and badges throughout. Each vehicle will also receive a unique serial number along with inclusion into the Shelby World Registry.
