Brake Upgrade

My car is currently in the shop waiting on a couple parts to get my build started. I've been debating with myself on if I should upgrade my brakes; Hawk Street pads, SS braided hose lines, and high performance synthetic brake fluid for $550.
The stock brakes aren't weak but I am going to make over 300rwhp, but than again I'm lowering her and stiffing the chassis.

Do you guys think the brake upgrade is completely nessecary?

$550 for hawk pads, brake lines and fluid???....seems a little pricey. The stock pads are pretty good, but hawks are GREAT. What type of driving do you plan on doing with your car? Autocross? Strip? Or just cruising?

$550 for everything and the install.
Mostly just cruising, but I will be hitting the strip on ocassion and maybe autocross acouple times a yr. thats it. I don't want to spend that $550 on the brakes if I can use it towards my wheels and tires.

Maybe just the hawk pads if street driving is what you do most.....and than save the rest of the money for some wheels and tires. What wheel/tire are you looking at?

Im going to get Black FR500's. 18x9 front and 18x10 deep dish for rear. and nitto 555's

That will look pretty sick with the legend lime. Ive got Nitto's as well....nice traction......specially now that its getting hot out. They stick like glue.

i have the same set up. if you want the offsets and tire size let me know. i have it around here somewhere. here is a pic for you if you are interested. the 555's work great.

that looks really nice. I don't think I need that info, having the shop thats doing all my other mods installing them.

I was in the same position as you guys, and paying that kind of money to not even really upgrade the parts itself (aside from better pads maybe) made no sense.

I got myself a used set of GT500 brembo calipers, pads, and 14" rotors for $500 shipped. I havent installed them yet, but its better than getting some flashy rotors that dont do anything for you really.

im at 315rwhp.... 57k miles and OE brakes. still stoping great and have tons of pad left.

Where'd you find the GT500 parts at for that good of price?
Would it work with the FR500's?

^ I have heard that the FR500's do fit, but check your wheel measurements. I found the set used- the calipers need a bit of touching up as they are a bit scuffed (surface scratches) as they were used in the Miller Cup.

My advice is to keep an eye out on 05-10 mustang forums and pick up a take-off set. Brand new, they run as much as $1200 for the set.

Yes, they do indeed work with fr500's as i was told and have seen. And i also have a used set of gt500 brembo's i am looking to get rid of if anyone is interested!

installed mine this weekend. they are worth every penny of the $500 i paid. They look awesome too. the stopping power is great, and very smoothe. i'll try to get some pics up for you guys later today.
