Hello > I finally got a blacj dash in great shape. getting rid of the nasty red one..

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the old dash with out going insane?

Do I have to remove the steering column?

Should I replace the heater core while I have the dash out?



any diagrams or anyone who wants to help lol?

Definitely replace the heater core while it's out...spend the $25 now and avoid having to rip is all apart again! It's not hard swapping dashes, just time consuming and cramped. Just be sure to take it slow to avoid from breaking the little plastic clips and electrical harness clips...

i dropped my steering column took each clip and screw bolt w/e out carefully and when everything was out i wiggled it out very slow you should have some one else do one side while you do the other this way it comes out eaiser goodluck and to be rough on it

I just replaced my heater core. Yes you have to drop the steering column down. To replace the heater core, I had to take the center console out, the shifter, glovebox, the dash cluster, and the many torx screws. So make sure you have some torx bits or borrow some, the ones I had to use were 15, 20, and 25 iirc. Just take your time and get some sandwich bags to put the screws in and label them. The electrical connectors are pita, I broke a few trying to get them out. If you have a/c make sure you get it discharged so you can disconnect the line to free the heater case up some.

The heater hoses must be removed to as you can see in this last picture and the accumulator hose on the left needs to be removed. I wouldn't mind helping you out if you didn't live all the way down to nyc. It would help if you had another hand for a few things, like pulling the dash out or a light when taking the heater core out. Feel free to cuss while doing it, it will help to relieve the stress, LOL. Good luck, and post on here if you need some help. :)

Hey !! Ok so my brother came home from ATL for a wedding and I had him for an hour and a half. We swapped the black dash in that time lol.. NO heater core :( But its in and it loooks great!!

LOOKS GREAT MAN......:awesomework: .but should have done the core while you were there...imo mybe even the clutch quadrent if stock ..justa litte easyer with out the dash...
